Du Barry
Ring
Description
This engagement ring was created around a diamond with a family history of its own. The stone originally belonged to an antique brooch that had been passed down through the family and was carefully dismantled so that its centre could be given a new life. According to family history, the brooch may once have belonged to Madame du Barry, to whom the family is related.
We loved the idea of bringing both family stories into the same ring. Inspired by that heritage, we imagined a floral design around the central stone, while the band was engraved with laurel-inspired motifs in 18k white gold as a subtle reference to his wife’s Italian origins.
Emeralds also became a natural part of the design. They held a special meaning for them both, while their green tone echoed the colour of her eyes. Because emeralds are delicate by nature, we selected cabochon emeralds and set them in a way that offered greater protection, with 18k white gold surrounding each stone to preserve both their beauty and fragility.
Entirely handcrafted in Belgium, the ring brings together family heritage and personal symbolism.
